Thu Huynh

Thu Huynh is a Lead Parent & Child Teacher at the Waldorf School of Garden City, where she creates a warm, attentive space for young children and their caregivers to slow down, connect, and settle into the early years together.

Her path into this work began in 2016, when her son entered the Waldorf School of Garden City, followed by years of assisting in Parent & Child and nursery classrooms beginning in 2017. As a mother of two very different children, JR (Class of 2030) and Ashley (Class of 2038), Thu has come to deeply appreciate how each child unfolds in their own unique way, and how parenting asks us to meet each child with awareness and compassion.

Alongside her experience in Waldorf education, Thu brings over a decade of mindfulness and meditation practice, which continues to shape how she meets both children and adults. She completed the Leading with Wisdom and Heart Parent & Child Teacher Training at WSGC and is certified as a Peaceful Parenting Coach, Certified KonMari Consultant, and Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is a trained Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) facilitator through Brown University.

She believes that children thrive when they feel safe and loved, and that this begins with presence, understanding, and trust. Knowing that parenting can be both meaningful and challenging, Thu is drawn to creating a space where parents feel seen and supported, and where children can unfold naturally in wonder and play.

Fun fact: She loves cooking, but didn’t learn how to bake until she became a Parent & Child Teacher.
