The high school also offers opportunities to pursue special interest. Students participate in a number of elective activities, including chorus, drama, orchestra, community service, ecology, film study, jazz band, the literary magazine, madrigals, Model United Nations, the ambassadors club, the investment club and the yearbook, among others. The variety of extracurricular offerings is ever-changing, and students are encouraged to initiate new activities in areas that ignite their interest. They compete in seasonal athletics, such as volleyball, soccer, cross – country, basketball, lacrosse, baseball and softball. They also enjoy social events, including parties and dances.
Seniors have the opportunity to take courses at Adelphi University for college credit in areas of special interest and professors are available to mentor seniors. Internships and independent projects offer still more paths students can take to pursue their passions.
